New “Temporary Protection Transition Scheme” for Temporary Protection Holders in Ireland due to the war in Ukraine

The Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration announced on May 26th a “Temporary Protection Transition Scheme”, which will be provided on a Stamp 4 basis, for those living in Ireland under Temporary Protection due to the war in Ukraine. The application process is intended to be opened from September 2026. This Stamp 4 will granted for a period of up to two years and will be renewable for periods of two years after.

To be eligible, an applicant must meet the below criteria:

  • be resident in Ireland for at least one year through the Temporary Protection Scheme (Stamp 4 TPD).
  • be in employment or self-employment for 6 months, with a minimum yearly salary of €29,432
  • Not be living in state supported accommodation (e.g. accommodation supported by the Accommodation Recognition Pay
