The Department of Enterprise has published a new Roadmap for Minimum Annual Remuneration (MAR), outlining gradual increases to employment permit salary thresholds. The first changes will take effect on 1 March 2026.
Key Changes from 1 March 2026

General Employment Permits:
Minimum salary increasing from €34,000 → €36,605 -
Critical Skills Employment Permits:
Minimum salary increasing from €38,000 → €40,904 -
Meat processors, horticultural workers, healthcare assistants, and home carers:
Minimum salary increasing from €30,000 → €32,691 -
Recent graduates:
Lower starting thresholds will apply to reflect early career earnings.
These changes are part of the Government’s wider MAR roadmap, which will phase in further increases over time.
