If you received a permission letter from Immigration Service Delivery with your current Immigration permission, always check the letter for information on how to renew your Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card before it is expiring.
For example, if you are on a Stamp 4 EU FAM permission, you must apply to the EU Treaty Rights division 6 months before being able to renew your IRP card online. If you directly renew your IRP card online without doing this first, the application will be refused.
If your permission letter states that you can renew your IRP card online, you can proceed to do so.
Not all permissions are granted with a permission letter, but if you do have one it will always have information on how to make a renewal.
