When Must You Submit Your Renewal?
According to DETE (Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment) Ireland, renewal applications for a General Employment Permit must be submitted either:
- Within 4 months before your permit expiry date, or
- Within 1 month after your permit expiry date
Once your renewal application has been submitted within the prescribed period above, you are legally permitted to continue working while your application is being processed. You do not need to stop working while waiting for a decision.
This is as per the Employment Permits Act 2024.Â
