Following an announcement made in March 2025, new financial requirements for students will come into effect from 30 June 2025. These changes apply to non-visa required nationals and are being introduced to align with the financial requirements already in place for visa required nationals.
This marks the third and final adjustment in a phased series, bringing financial proof requirements into full alignment for all international students, regardless of visa status.
Financial Requirements Overview:
For Non-Visa Required Nationals:
- If you do not require a visa to enter Ireland, you must still prove financial self-sufficiency for the duration of your studies.
- From 30 June 2025:
- For one-year courses: Proof of access to €10,000 is required.
- For courses lasting 6 to 8 months: You must show €833 per month, which totals:
- €4,998 for 6 months
- €6,665 for 8 months
For Visa-Required Nationals:
- Financial proof is assessed as part of the visa application process and is not required again at the time of registration in Ireland.
- You must demonstrate immediate access to at least €10,000 for a one-year course, and readily available funds for subsequent years.
- From 30 June 2025, the same monthly financial requirement applies:
- €833 per month for stays of 6 to 8 months
- €4,998 for 6 months, or €6,665 for 8 months
