MRCI Updates

Changes at MRCI: an announcement from the team

This Easter, after eleven and a half years, our treasured Director Siobhán O’Donoghue is leaving MRCI. With Siobhán at the helm, MRCI has gone from strength to strength and has developed a reputation as an organisation that successfully combines people power with strategic advocacy, achieving real change for migrants in Ireland. Siobhán’s wealth of experience and skills will be put to good use as she takes up the position of Founding Director of a new and exciting multi-issue campaigning organisation called Uplift.

We are also delighted to announce Edel McGinley as MRCI’s incoming Director. Edel started with MRCI in 2005 as coordinator of the Domestic Workers Action Group. She grew Justice for the Undocumented from an idea to the 700-strong group it is today, and last year was appointed Deputy Director of MRCI. She has extensive experience at national and international level and is a recognised leader and campaigner in the area of migration. Edel brings her dynamic style and creative abilities to the role of Director - we are lucky to have her!

2014 has already seen real progress in all of our core priority areas of work. Achievements have been made and exciting news is imminent on one of our core this space! Our work is only made possible through the collective effort of the team, our board, migrant activists and leaders, partners and supporters like you.

As community workers, Siobhán and Edel have demonstrated a deep commitment to the principles of empowerment and collective action in tackling the root causes of inequality and injustice. As they take up their new roles we all look forward to being part of new and exciting efforts and campaigns to achieve social justice and positive change in Ireland. On our behalf and yours, we want to wish Siobhán the best of luck with Uplift and welcome Edel as Director of MRCI.
