Can you believe it's almost 2018?
This year, My Fair Home showed the close bond between care workers and the people they care for with their beautiful #careselfies, JFU held the first-ever exhibition of portraits of undocumented people in Ireland and Young, Paperless and Powerful stood with the undocumented in the US as they confronted the reality of a Trump presidency. 30 fishermen worked with us to show the challenges of their working lives and we launched an incredible new entrepreneurship programme for migrant women.
In the courts, we got justice for those long denied it - including tens of thousands in life-changing financial awards for exploited workers. Leaders who sacrificed many late nights to campaign meetings danced the night away at a glittering gala evening, and while our campaigns continued to move hearts and minds, we moved offices!
And throughout a busy and challenging year, our caseworkers saw over 2,000 people: families trying to stay together, mothers dealing with serious health issues, children who are undocumented, workers who have survived abuse and exploitation - resilient, determined, extraordinary, ordinary people.
To everyone we saw this year, everyone who joined a group, led a campaign, stepped up or spoke out, and to each and every one of our supporters: thank you, happy holidays, and may 2018 bring you peace, justice and joy.
With love and solidarity from Edel and the whole MRCI team.
