Information & Referrals: MRCI Drop In Centre

MRCI’s Resource Centre operates an information, advice and referral service to migrant workers and their families.  Typical areas of concern dealt with by the Resource Centre include: the work permits system, employment rights and workplace exploitation, and undocumented status. Caseworkers also refer queries to relevant specialised and local organisations around the country.  Through the Resource Centre, MRCI identifies key emerging issues of concern for migrant workers, and develops campaigns for change.

Go to the Information for Migrant Workers section for practical information on the following areas:

Training

MRCI also provides specialist information and training to agencies, local, regional and national organisations, trade unions and service providers working with migrant workers around the country. The sessions focus on key areas for migrant workers in low-paid sectors of employment, including workplace exploitation, trafficking and forced labour, and irregular migration. MRCI also collaborates with the Citizens Information Board to provide practical training for staff of Citizens Information Centres and Services on responding to queries by migrant workers on these issues. Migrants Forum

The Migrants Forum is a collective space for migrant workers to receive information and support, share experiences and raise key issues of concern to them. It is held every two months on a Sunday afternoon. The Migrants Forum regularly holds ‘Know Your Rights' information sessions on key policy developments in the area of immigration, work permits and workplace rights.  Through the Forum, migrant workers can also become involved in campaigns for policy change and take action on these key issues.
